Update on the Affordable Health Act for anyone interested. this letter was sent to my House Representative Walle. Representative Walle I have written to my congressman on several occasions regarding multiple issues including the Affordable Health Care Act. It was obvious that he and Mr.Obama had no idea what was going on with this issue. Please understand that I know why he didnt know about the AHCA because no one knows. I went to the following web site: Healthcare to see what type of policies were being offered and the amount of monthly premium for these policies. This is what I found: The policies that are being offered have a deductible beginning at $3,500 up to $10,000 per year. They have a premium per month starting at around $500. I assume based on the information that I have heard, this is a family deductible and not a per person deductible but do not know that for a fact. I also understand that the Government will subsidize the monthly premium depending on a persons income and the number of people in the family enrolled in the plan. Unfortunately the web site is down again so I am not able to provide a estimate the actual amount that would be subsidized by the Government. Also, no one can tell me how the Government can afford subsidizing the premium. Most Americans do not know how a deductible works. Lets say you have a $10000 deductible. This means you must incur covered charges over $10,000. Then anything over that amount will be considered for payment. Just because it will be considered, It does not mean it is covered. Therefore, the first $10,000 will be the patients responsibility and will come out of their pocket. I will not sign up for these plans and will take any penalty that the Government deems necessary. If the penalty is incarceration then that is what it will be. This will only show that this country has become a communist country and our rights have been taken away. Since I wrote my letter to my Congressman, I have learned a little more about this Act. I found that there are many people who are losing their coverage as of the first of January. It appears that the reason people are losing their coverage is because is because of pre-existing conditions and Lifetime maximums. First of all, most policies have removed their lifetime maximums. As far as pre-existing, COBRA was implemented so if you obtained new coverage within 63 days, pre-existing was not applicable. Also most policies already had well care benefits at 100%. We were also told that we could keep our coverage if wanted to keep the plan we had. This is not the case. My roommate was just offered a job and the benefits were terrible. In- net-work benefits are now 70/30. Previously the benefits were 90/10. This means the insurance would pay 90% and the patient would be responsible for 10%. The deductibles ran about $200 I would appreciate any clarification I may have missed and will report it back to the public. I hope to hear from you soon regarding this matter. Thanks Lisa
