VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT | HEAD OF FUNDRAISING, DAKAR ActionAid Senegal is one of ActionAid Country Programmes. ActionAid is an International Non-Governmental organization headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa. ActionAid International works in 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas. 22 of these country programmes, affiliates or associates are in Africa and are led by Africans. We have been doing development work on the continent since 1972 and in Senegal since 2001. ActionAid works with the poor and excluded in Africa, promoting values and commitment in civil society, institutions and governments with the aim of achieving structural changes in order to eradicate injustice and poverty in the world. To effectively remain proactive and consolidate on the new Country Strategy, ActionAid Senegal is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of Head of Fundraising. MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE • A member of the Senior management team; this position spearheads the identification of project funding and the development of project proposals, in line with AAIS strategic objectives. S/he coordinates the development and maintenance of partnerships; Projects fundraising and Communications with a diverse range of funding agencies like AAI affiliates for Project, foundations, trusts, and individuals, corporate, bilateral and multilateral donors. • Lead AAIS fundraising and child sponsorship programs in a coordinated effort through effective, strategic and operational management of funding relationships and systems and ensure a funding mix that is stable, diversified, pro poor and • flexible to meet the resource needs of the Country Program. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Resource Mobilisation • Develops and supports implementation of a resource mobilisation strategy in line with CSP strategic objectives. • Carry out donor intelligence/scoping and identification of new donors and explores and identifies potential funding opportunities • Leads/Oversees and supports national and regional programme teams in developing concept note and Funding proposals to support programme initiatives and ensure timely submission of final proposals to donors. • Develops and enhances staff and partner capacity in fundraising and contract management as well as Compiles and/or circulates information on donor funding priorities and call for proposals to programmes • Supports Programs to maintain oversight of all donor funded projects and managing donor contracts in line with AAIS and IPD strategies • Gives advisory support to staff and partners on nurturing funding partnership relationship plus maintaining AAIS institutional/Projects donor relations and Facilitate linkages with IPD. Partnership Development, Influencing and Donor Management • Identifies, develops and maintains strategic partnerships with key institutional donors to support expanded programme initiatives and influence their funding approaches • Works jointly with the Programmes team to influence donors on their funding approaches, quality and quantity of aid towards development in Senegal • Organizes and conducts Partnership and Institutional related training for programme staff LRP Programmes, Projects Coordinators, Finance, Programme Support etc.. Functional Unit and Organizational management • Develops Key Result Areas (KRAs), targets and performance measures on annual basis. • Develops, organize and conduct formal Partnership funding related induction sessions/Trainings for new staff and other Programme staff in partnership and non sponsorship fundraising related. • Develops Annual Plans and budgets for the Fundraising and Communications Unit • Reviews Unit Management Accounts with the Finance team. • Contributes to decision making through SMT participation and support to the operational plans • Participates and represents the CP in sub regional, regional and international meetings and workshops on IPD as guided by Line Manager. • Contributes regularly, on behalf of the CP, to the Partnership Development Newsletters • Provide strategic and technical support to Sponsorship Unit. • Promote Sponsorship expectations in SMT and other meetings (internally and externally). General • Contributes to CP periodic and annual planning, budgeting, reporting, monitoring and evaluation • Perform other related duties as required by the line manager and the CP. Person Specifications Education/Qualifications • A Master degree in the social or developmental sciences; marketing or any other related fields will be required. • A relevant postgraduate qualification would be an added advantage. . Experience • 5 years experience in fundraising, Campaign and Partnership from a reputable organization is essential • Rich experience preferably working with NGOs • Good understanding of current Partnership, Fundraising, Campaign and sponsorship communication issues. • In depth knowledge of current debates and thinking on Development themes, Media, Communication etc… • Good contacts and relationships with Civil Society, Media, NGOs, Government and movements. • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication and negotiation skills to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment; • Knowledge of international and regional instruments, structures, and organizations used for promotion and protection of Partnership, Fundraising, Campaign and Communication. • Strong communication, writing and editing skills. • Personal qualities embedded in values and principles for human privileges and equality; • Strong commitment to the mission of the organization; • Personal qualities of sense of judgment, willingness to learn; • Capacity Building and facilitation skills and experience; • Internal desire to make a difference in the lives of people living in poverty; • Fluency in both written and oral English and French • Good knowledge of standard computer software packages (Word, Excel, email, Windows).
