VANUATU SHIPPING SUPPORT SCHEME ( VSSS ) The Above Agency under the Ministry of Public Infrastructure is running a workshop in Luganville for all shipping Owners around the Northern Region. This workshop is supported by LAW PARTNERS in Port Vila where ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK, NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT and VANUATU GOVERNMENT are the main Financer behind this exercise. The Course Instructor are Roger D Jenkins who is a consultant and Norman Tor from LAW PARTNERS in Port Vila. The Workshops begins 27th - 29th January at VNPF Conference room in Santo. All Shipping Owners and Agency Attended the workshops. It was Great. We learned a lot from our course. The Financial Management was a bit hard for some . I must admit , its awesome learning the Accounting stuff especially with Shipping but its so difficult playing with numbers and putting them in Different columns. Handling Cash is an easy spending but putting something on the Paper , I must admit its a Headache. I was fallen asleep inside the meeting because trying to put the numbers in the right column . At last we enjoying . Our meals were great for 10 am , 12: 30pm Lunch and 3pm and it was so pleasing and enjoyable in the restaurants. One output is the Agency will financially supported shipping services to remote areas in Vanuatu using contracted private sector ship owners selected by competitive tender. Interested ship owners will need to have a good understanding of their operational and capital cost and how to present them in order to submit tenders which are both realistic and credible . In addition successful TENDERERS will be required to submit regular Financial Statements to the Ministry. Finally , This Financial Management and Bid Training Workshops has been designed to assist ship owners to understand and Implement basic accounting concepts, in the specific context of the shipping industry . Thru discussions and practical exercises we are assisted to upgrade our basic book keeping and financial skills and be confident in preparing both financial statements and mostly our TENDER Bids to the Ministry. Its a hidden diamond in the shipping Industry. All shipping owners must give The best Bid after this course. Its a headache for me................................ BUT Its a blessing and its an important sector in the economy that contributes to the central government revenue. SHIPPING INDUSTRY MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN BECAUSE ITS THIS INDUSTRY THAT YOU CAN HAVE ACCESS TO SEE YOUR FAMILIES WITHIN THE ISLES OF VANUATU................................................
