VYBZ KARTEL HEARING PUSHED TO TUESDAY!!!!!!! The murder trial of dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel has been hit by further delays as Justice Bryan Sykes has set aside three more days for a hearing to continue in the absence of the jury. The 12-member jury, has been out of the courtroom since yesterday(thursday) as the judge listens to submissions from the prosecution which is seeking to get the statements entered into evidence. The application is being made under the section of the Evidence Act which addresses the admission of witness statements in situations where a witness cannot be located or is not available. Yesterday(thursday) the jurors were told to return today at noon(friday), but when they turned up, the judge explained that the process has taken much longer than expected and ordered that they instead return next Tuesday. Three witnesses have so far testified at the trial which began on Monday. Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, Lenburgh McDonald and Nigel Thompson are jointly charged with the July 2011 shooting death of the St. Catherine businessman, Barrington “Bossy” Burton.
