Videos of the tunnels that the Palestinians use in Gaza remind me of the tunnels in Vietnam. I have seen the extensively constructed Cu Chi tunnels in Vietnam. In fact Ive been in one of them. The tunnels are tight, narrow, cramped and humid. They are not for the claustrophobic.The diminutive North Vietnamese soldier would be nimble inside those tunnels while an average sized american soldier would easily get stuck inside one of them and get trapped making him an easy target for the picking by the VC. My experience wading through one of them was not really a delightful experience. The Vietnamese won the war partly because of their ingenuity in designing those tunnels. The tunnels in Vietnam were covered by dense vegetation while in Gaza, the tunnel entrances and access routes are widely and openly exposed. I wonder if tunnels would work as effectively for the Palestinians against Israel.
