Visiting the village of Bunambutye. We got a first hand look at the medical clinic and labor and delivery room. While this center is a major resource for many, others it lacks appropriate provision and some dont make it for treatment without fatal implications. For women in delivery in the evenings, they must provide gas for the lantern or their own light. The widows of the village held a celebration to share what God is doing through Heart of God in their midst. It was amazing to see what a small hand-up can do, and how it inspires them to be creative and unified in an effort to sustain each other during rough times. They rely on their harvest and cotton to see them through. The widows center will be a huge place of refuge for them. In this center they will have opportunity to store excess harvest for the season of famine; meet and discuss new possibilities; a training center for tailoring and crafts will be available. The possibilities are endless when God is in it. Heart of God Africa was able to establish a very small, humble office in the village so that a permanent presence can be located. Our board member Deo will oversee this facility and be available for the government officials who want to see the work being done in the village. There are many muslims within the community, but the biggest threat are the Karamojong. They believe that God has granted them all the cattle in the world, and they will stoop to killing to retrieve what they believe is theirs. The villagers cannot have cows or bulls with this major threat to their security. We would love to see a goat or pig project started for the widows and community.
