Volunteer Communications and Social Media Director The Gift of Love Greater Chicago Area Tell our story! This position is responsible for all The Gift of Love internal and external communications including news media, social media, public relations programs as well as executive communications. Key constituents include directors, volunteers, and the communities in which we serve. Telling our stories to motivate and inspire people to get involved and help with The Gift of Loves mission. Preserving and enhancing this conversation with the public and inspiring them to take action is one of the most important ingredients for The Gift of Loves continued success and growth. This position is also responsible for crisis management and communications. Skills & Experience Manage graphic design and writing resources to lead The Gift of Loves branding; written, audio and visual communications; media relations; public relations; The Gift of Love magazine; website and social media communications; program marketing; interfacing with and supporting the development team with direct mail strategy for other platforms like Twitter, Link-In, and Blogging. Ensure programs and activities enhance long and short-term communications programs; develops and maintains quality standards for all publications and executive communications. Develop and implement public relations strategies for The Gift of Love which align with the strategic direction and the marketing objectives; and serves as the primary contact with the media and other external and internal audiences. Partner with the Creative Marketing Director to develop and execute cross-functional strategic public relations plans for new programs and locations, brand campaigns, marketing events, etc. Identify trends and new developments that will impact The Gift of Loves strategic communications plan and success. Generate mission-related pitches for media partners, optimizing The Gift of Loves visibility as a nationwide leader. Oversee content development, ensuring consistency with The Gift of Loves mission and brand; generating new content daily to keep the digital platforms fresh; developing The Gift of Loves through leadership in space; and supporting revenue generating opportunities as needed. Support development team with content to properly thank and recognize all donors, communicating the results and impact of their gifts and guide content for support solicitations. Qualifications: Knowledgeable in journalism, marketing, communication or related field; a degree in communication strongly preferred Minimum 2 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, strategic planning, branding or related field in highly regulated industries Demonstrated success developing communication strategies including social media communications is required. Understanding of and experience using social media, industry analysts and other influencers to increase awareness and credibility is required Executive presence Dynamic verbal communication skills Impeccable writing skills Passion for story telling Comfortable being in the spotlight, working with executives We are proud to be an Illinois Non-Profit 501c3 Organization.
