Vrentis Background Vrentis is a large circular city located in the south western corner of the Nortlans. The city houses the largest population of humans in the world of Elendim serving as the primary dwelling for over one hundred thousand humans. The city itself is build around a temple to the dragon gods. All five dragon gods are elegantly carved into a semi-circular wall in the temple where they are worshipped and thanked by the denizens daily. The temple itself houses the hundred or so shamans that practice their arts within the temple walls. Just south west of the temple lies the Grand Bazzar which houses over twenty different vendors and shops. To the south east lies the Traders Outpost which houses the small population of dwarves and elves that visit for trading purposes which come in from the docks located just outside of the district. To the north east lies the Iron District bustling with the humans’ best blacksmiths and armor smiths in the region. To the north west lies the Mystic’s District which also houses the High Chieftain himself who is looked at as not only a leader but a spiritual representative of the dragon gods themselves. History Vrentis was founded by High Chieftain Hroth II in 70 B.A. (Before Arcanium). Previous to the founding and commissioning of Vrentis the humans were nomads roaming the vast tundras and forests of the Nortlans as hunters. Upon it’s commissioning, thousands of men were called to gather the necessary resources from the local forests and mining operations began digging well into the corner of the Nortlans until eventually the city itself had become secluded on its own island. The Vrentis Span, a bridge reaching just a little under a mile is the only connection to Vrentis Isle to the mainland. After the success of building the city, many of the workers had contracted illness including the High Chieftain himself in which case had ultimately ended in the death of Hroth II. It was then the city was left with no leadership and in turmoil. Riots took over the streets, eventually out breaking into a civil war amongst the humans that would separate mankind for the ages to come. The Civil War of Men In 20 B.A. with no Chieftain to claim the throne the world of humans was sent spiraling down in the city of Vrentis. Talks between the shamans and warriors on whom to elect had ended in a ideological debate on whether it should be someone of spirit or whether it be someone of strength. In all attempts to stick to the old ways, Lagaris, a young shaman, protested the idea of moving away from the old ways and Alexander Besage challenged the shamans beliefs to be too primitive in a growing civilization, that the throne be taken by someone of strength and honor rather than an ideological leader. It was this debate that broke the world of men into war. The Battle For Vrentis ended in the defeat of the shamans and their followers and were exiled out of the city. Unfortunately, the war had not stopped there. The Civil War of Men sparred across the lot of the Nortlans for many years until the Treaty of Nezrigard was signed giving Nezrigard and the east to the now Gerwulf humans, and giving Vrentis and the lands west to the now humans of Arnbjord. Dragon Wars (In refferance to Vrentis in the Dragon Wars *spoiler*) Vrentis, since the final construction of Reinhold, has been partially abandoned and wrecked since the civil war and never properly repaired. However, many humans still found it hard to leave the safety of it’s temple. Upon the Awakening, the dragons came upon Vrentis and its denizens seeking information in return not destroying the city. Unfortunately for the citizens, they had not any knowledge to what the dragons sought and ultimately Vrentis was plunged to the depths of the ocean after a massive tidal wave summoned by the dragons engulfed the lot of the city leaving only a small portion even visible from the surface. Vrentis exists only in legend and can only be seen when the moonlight shines just right to show one of the once great towers of the wall. The Vrentis Span appears to be partially intact on the mainland side but completely severed from the city iself. It is rumored the spirits of the dead citizens, warriors and shamans still walk the empty temple halls unable to be granted peace and misbegotten by their former gods.
