WATE Don Dare here. About 12 years ago, I bought a shed for my backyard. In it I have my yard tools and a few other odds and ends. In one day, a local company built the shed on my property. Ive been pleased with it. The ramp in front of the door is at a slight angle, but it is easy to walk into the shed. Well, Carolyn Hegemeyer recently purchased a monstrous shed, they call it a mini-barn. Its 32 feet long. But, she has a huge problem. She cant get into the $5.000 building. The ramp to the front door is too steep. Even I had a hard time negotiating it. Had to hip, then hop, and grab onto the door handle to steady myself in order to unlock the thing. Unfortunately, 75-year Mrs. Hegemeyer cant get up the ramp because shes disabled. The man who installed it could easily have said to her, Hey, this isnt going to work for you, lets see if we can find an alternative. But, he didnt. He could have said, Hey, it may cost a few more hundred dollars to put in a graduated ramp, can we do that? But, he didnt. We we called him to ask what can be done -- his answer was classic. We look for some alternatives for Mrs. Hegemeyer. Lets hope they work for her. Watch Monday. Don
