Position: Graphic Designer Company Summary: Family Business Distribution is a design, distribution and wholesale manufacturing business, developing the following women’s apparel brands: Gentle Fawn, Left on Houston. Job Summary: We are looking for a career focused, up beat, self starter to join our dynamic, creative and business driven organization. This applicant will be responsible for researching, conceptualizing and creating graphic and textile designs that match the creative vision and aesthetic of our brands. Responsibilities: • Research and identify the season’s key graphic trends and applications. • Keep up to date with current trends within FBD’s markets as well as current & historic sales reporting. • Create seasonal graphic color palettes. Pantone selection for all design work. • Conceptualize and design graphics and textile prints that fit within the brands aesthetic and meet the required price points. • Work closely with the Design team and Design Manager to merchandise graphic designs together with garment designs into 10 collections per annum. • Prepare and Lead graphic design presentations to Brand Manager, Sales Manager, Design Manager and Owners and incorporate their direction and feedback into your work. • Create artwork and specifications for design concepts. • Maintaining/updating specifications from first strike-off through to final production goods. • Work with vendors to ensure that all target price points are met, that artwork is properly executed and that strike-offs are delivered on time. • Ensuring that the quality of all adornments are up to FBD’s standards. Work with vendors to improve when required. • Track, review and submit comments on adornment strike-offs from vendors. • Keep files and reference materials updated and organized. • Work with interns to improve productivity and relieve your workload; Tasks may include updating and organizing files, data entry, printing out artwork. • Art direction for seasonal print catalogues, layout creation and print logistics management. Qualifications: • Minimum 5 years experience in surface design within the apparel industry • Advanced knowledge of MAC platform, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Excel • Strong aesthetic sense and keen eye for fashion trends & color • Passion for fashion and an eye for quality • Proven ability to conceptualize, create and execute graphic design for apparel products • Excellent time management skills • Deadline driven with a strong ability to prioritize work • Strong ability to multi task and thrive within an ever changing environment • Experience working with offshore vendors an asset If this sounds like you, please forward your cover letter and resume to adriana@familybusinessdistribution.
