WHY THE JEWS REJECTED AND KILLED JESUS CHRIST ????? All the prophets in the Old and the New Testaments were moved (inspired) by the HOLY SPIRIT, the third person of the GODHEAD; and they wrote about JESUS which is the central focus (theme) of the gospel. Paul testified that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of GOD.”- (2 Timothy 3:16). And that GOD who moved (inspired) the prophets to write about JESUS was the HOLY SPIRIT – (2 Peter 1: 20-21). Mrs. White writes, “We need to realize that the Holy Spirit . . . is as much a person as God is a person.” . . . (The Faith I Live By, page.52). Their testimonies were about JESUS who became human and died at Calvary to become mankinds sin bearer and Savior. JESUS was the LAMB slain from the foundation of the earth after Adam and Eves fall – (Revelation 13:8). At river Jordan, John pointed to JESUS as the LAMB OF GOD that taketh away the sins of the world – (John 1:29). Forgiveness of sin is through the shedding of JESUS CHRISTS blood – (Hebrews 9:22). John, inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT, not only testified that JESUS was the SON OF GOD (John 3:16); but pushed the idea further to the unbelieving Jewish mind to accept that JESUS was also GOD apart from the FATHER. The converted disciple, says in John 1:1, 14, “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD. … And the WORD became flesh and dwelt amongst us. ...” THE “WORD” REFERS TO JESUS. THE “WORD” (JESUS) WAS WITH GOD. THUS, GOD WAS WITH GOD THE FATHER. AND THE WORD (JESUS) WAS GOD ALSO. John wrote about the voice of JESUS in Revelation 21:6-7 which says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end … He that overcometh shall inherit all things: AND I WILL BE HIS GOD, and he shall be my son.” The Jewish people of JESUS CHRISTS time had no problem in believing that the FATHER in heaven was GOD. Here is the point - Their problem was NOT believing that JESUS, the son of Mary was also the SON OF GOD through the HOLY SPIRIT (Luke 1). Since the Jews did not believe that JESUS was the SON OF GOD, then HOW on earth could they believe that JESUS was GOD also? …. They must first believe that JESUS was the SON OF GOD before they can believe that JESUS was GOD. IN their unbelief, pride, anger, and stubbornness, they could not grasp the truth when JESUS tells them that HE was before Abraham – (John 8:56). Mrs. White says, “It was Christ who from the bush on Mount Horeb spoke to Moses saying, I Am That I Am. . . . Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. Ex. 3:14. - Desire of Ages, page 24 Mrs. White says, … Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I Am. Silence fell upon the vast assembly. The name of God, given to Moses to express the idea of the ETERNAL PRESENCE, had been claimed as His own by this Galilean Rabbi. He had announced Himself to be the SELF-EXISTENT ONE,” Desire of Ages, p. 469-470. They could not believe that JESUS was GOD and that HE could forgive sins – (Mark 2:1-11). When JESUS forgave the sins of the paralytic, the Pharisees called HIM a Blasphemer. They believed that GOD alone can forgive sins which is true. But they failed to realize that JESUS was GOD and HE can forgive sins. They failed to realize that their animal sacrificial offering system pointed to JESUS CHRISTS blood. To prove that He was GOD, JESUS even raised the paralytic to walk in order to give evidence that the sins of the paralytic were truly forgiven – (Mark 2:1-11). But the good seed only fell on rocky soil and bear no fruit of faith in JESUS who was GOD also Nothing; not even a miracle could convince them of the divinity of JESUS. Finally, they killed JESUS for claiming to be equal to GOD – (John 5:18; 10:33). Mrs. White says: “There are THREE LIVING PERSONS of the heavenly TRIO; in the name of these THREE GREAT POWERS --THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT--those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and THESE powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ.” -- Evangelism, page 615 – {SDA Bible Commentary, Volume 7, page 441} Dear friends, JESUS was truly the SON OF GOD THE FATHER – (John 3:16). HE was also GOD, apart from the FATHER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT– (John 1:1, 14; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7).
