WORD FOR TODAY: 1Chron. 16:29 – Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name: bring an offering and come before Him; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. What can we give or offer to the Lord? We can give him our worship, our praise, our honor, our obedience, and our thankfulness. We can offer Him our songs and our psalms: speak of His wondrous works and His goodness. We must strive for righteousness, live in holiness, and pray for mercy and forgiveness, counting all of our blessings and benefits. Our worship pleases God because it tells God that we understand His true character: that he is God almighty and worthy of our praise and worship. This is the meaning of true worship, which should dwell in the heart of every believer, with expression in word, thought, and deed. Worship requires reverence, and some type of public expression: (Matt. 5:16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven). Worship requires some type of service and not just restricted to church attendance: (Matt. 25: 42 – 43 - “for I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you took me in, naked and you clothed me, sick and in prison, and you visited me”). So, I challenge you today: do not just expect God to always sink down to you as he faithfully answers your cries, supplications, and prayers; but: RISE UP TO GOD, GIVE HIM HIS DUE, and worship Him in spirit and truth and in the beauty of holiness.
