WOW! It was 100 yrs ago in 1914 that Charlie Chaplins iconic Tramp character first appeared on film. A few years later, after great success in silent comedy shorts, he signed a contract for the then astronomical sum of $100,000! He built his own studio on a street called La Brea here in Hollywood where, at that time there were only citrus groves. The English Cottage Style Studio remains there today now owned by the Jim Henson Company.
