WRC - NEW CAR FOR 2015 DMACK TROPHY THE DRIVE DMACK FIESTA TROPHY WILL RETURN IN 2015 WITH AN ALL-NEW CAR. This year the single-make series has used a Fiesta R2 with a 1600cc normally aspirated engine. Next year’s Fiesta will be powered instead by a 1litre three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost unit. Malcolm Wilson, boss of the M-Sport company that runs the cars, told wrc that testing of the new Fiesta would start within the next month, in readiness for the series’ first round, expected to be Rallye de Portugal (21 – 24 May). Wilson said: “Although the engine size is smaller, the torque will be greater than the normally-aspirated engine and we’re confident that the car will be competitive in its class.” The calendar will again comprise five rounds with the winner netting a prize drive in a Fiesta R5 in the 2016 WRC2 competition. Orgainsers hope to expand this year’s 12 entries to 16. Dick Cormack, DMACK managing director, said: “It’s been an encouraging and extremely positive first season for us. As a relative newcomer to the FIA World Rally Championship, DMACK’s vision has always been to help and assist the potential stars of the future. The Trophy allows us to unearth the next batch of talent while providing an excellent platform to develop our products for two-wheel-drive competition.”
