Waking up this morning doing a lot of praying and with the world - TopicsExpress

Waking up this morning doing a lot of praying and with the world weighing on me. Leaving Ben in Athens last night was hard on us all but it was one of the proudest moments in my life. My son is living in an apartment on Milledge Avenue in Athens, Ga. Entering his Junior year of his pre law undergrad study at The University of Georgia. Whats more is he will be focusing on what Law School he will go to in the next two years. What a wonderful time in his life. I dont try to get real personal on here but I felt like there were some things I needed to say. Few people realize how very special my son is to me and how so very thankful I am to him and for him. I may not understand some of his musical choices and we may argue some over political ideas, but I can tell you he is every bit of the man his mama and I raised him to be. He loves his family. He loves his friends. He leads, he doesnt follow. He has his own ideas and he can express them all the while respecting yours. Ben and Brenna have had to grow up in ways I wish they didnt but God knows best and he has them in his hands. Brenna and I have depended on Ben all summer. He gave up his entire summer to stay with Brenna while I worked. These next few weeks and months will be tough on me and Brenna without him. Now as we try to find a way to schedule ourselves so we can balance my job and her school and activities. The bottom line is she is first. I made a commitment to her mama and God when she came into this world and I will make sure to do what I think is best for her. Brenna is so very strong. We were talking yesterday on the way home and she was telling me that even though she has had more than her share of trials, she really feels like she has a wonderful life. She said she felt like everything that God has allowed to happened has made her stronger and will allow her to take care of herself when she gets older or when she faces trouble. What a fantastic attitude! I truly love her spirit and I am going to do my best to be the blessing to her she is to me. Ben Lanier and Brenna Lanier you two are my world and I thank God so very much for allowing me the honor of being your father. I love you both with all my heart. This day is the beginning of the best times in your lives and regardless of what I have to do I will make sure of it. We may not have it all but we will always have each other.
