Warning!!! If you are comfortable in your present state of Christianity then I would advise you to never pray for truth. I prayed for truth wisdom and understanding for many years. I didnt care about worldly truth I just wanted to know the truth about Gods word. I prayed for wisdom not worldly wisdom but spiritual wisdom. I dont want to be wise in order to gain money but to rightly divide the word of truth. I was not concerned with worldly understanding I was only concerned with understanding the whole bible. Truth will punch you in the face so hard that when youre finally able to get back to your feet and dust yourself off you have to make a decision what do I do with this new truth? You can pretend like it never happened and continue on youre merry way or do you repent and turn around and go in the other direction. This is where the wisdom and understanding comes into play wisdom to know what to do and understanding to understand how to do it. Ecclesiastes says 1:17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. My spirit certainly is vexed as I write this. 18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. God has answered my prayers to some degree and certainly increased my knowledge and sorrow. I understand so much more about the Bible today than I did 10 years ago but it seems the more I learn the more troubled I become and the more I realize that I dont know anything at all. I learn and unlearn and relearn everyday. Luke 12:48 For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: Youre responsible for what you know. Youre responsible with what you do with what you know and you will be responsible with what you did with what you know. The emphasis is on you. I have realized today that I cannot change hearts and minds only the father can do that. My prayer is that you would pray for truth wisdom and understanding but you must also realize what comes with that, grief and sorrow. Be careful what you pray for God still answers prayers. Truth will divide a corrugation. The truth will divide a family. Mat 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a mans foes shall be they of his own household. Pray for me as I pray for you that you will incline your heart to search the Scriptures for wisdom and truth. Shalom Shane
