Was just outside in the fading light - pruning dead raspberry - TopicsExpress

Was just outside in the fading light - pruning dead raspberry canes and ancient storm-damaged forsythia. Thinking about being a Pollyanna. Its not that Im grateful for the unfrozen ground and misty days that lend themselves to pruning and garden clean-up. Its just that if thats the weather, I might as well make the most of it. Thats how I try to live my life. Its not that Im blindly optimistic, and I certainly do not believe that everything happens for a reason (other than physics). Its just that I know life will throw everything it can at me, and the test of my character is what I choose to do with that. I allow myself plenty if self-pity, when needed. Then I do my best to see rotten vegetables as compost for next years garden. Getting struck by a car seventeen months ago did not ruin my life. It just set it on a new course. Its my choice to consider my life a disaster or an adventure. I choose adventure - most of the time. And sometimes I just hide under the covers until it feels safe to come out again. Thats an option, too.
