Watching the Today Show this morning, I was upset to find out that the charges were dropped against the two girls who bullied the 12yr old girl in Florida who recently committed suicide by jumping off of a bridge. One of the girls even admitted in a fb post that she bullied her and she killed herself and that she DGAF. And of course one of the girls and her parents say that she did nothing wrong and now theyre thinking of suing the sheriff who charged the girls. Makes me mad how parents stand behind these little monsters. I applaud the sheriff for taking action, because believe it or not, its hard to get ppl to do anything about it. Parents, pls remind your children of how beautiful (inside & out), smart, wonderful and important they are no matter what some ppl say or think. Remind them that these ppl that choose to treat them badly are not important in their lives, except to teach them the cruel reality of life, which is that there are always going to be ppl like this no matter how old or young we are, but what those ppl think or say is not true of who our children are. Remind them that they always have someone they can depend on & that they are not weak if some actions and words hurt or bother them, but teach them how to deal with it, and be strong. I teach my kids that there are only a few opinions of them that matter...Gods, their own, & their parents. Stay involved & clued in on whats going on in your childrens lives. Give them the tools to be strong & confident & let them know its ok to break sometimes, but that they always have someone that will b there for them...you, a counselor, a friend, a therapist...and by all means, go to the school, principals, counselors, superintendant, school board until you get the help that your child deserves. And always make a police report about it so its documented. The schools have a legal obligation to protect our child(ren) and provide a safe learning environment.
