We all know, that to be a tennis coach is not an easy job, but to be a good or great coach is even more difficult. Why? ..because you care and give...so much time, energy, nerves, health....a lot. How much responsibility we have in our hands every day? How many children can you look into their eyes and tell them Work hard because I think you have what it takes to be a professional player ...Do I really want those kids to believe in it and go through that system of pain and wasted money? Who would rather like to coach a team of players in such a system as US College tennis, or would you like to be dependent (..and your wife and kids) on one or few players paying your salary? Walk on the thin ice every day not knowing what will happen tomorrow? Or, would you like to have enough time to concentrate, make changes and have enough power to be able to make them? I believe, that the system on ATP and WTA tour should be changed to such system they have in professional cycling.. - about 20 teams giving job to 20-25 players representing A TEAM (owned by few large brands / sponsors) - each team could have only 1 top 20 player, 3 top 100, 3 from 101-200 ...so on... - teams including not only the biggest names, but also lower ranked players ranked between 500-1000 ATP/WTA, supporting also these younger players with potential signed by contract and with salary so they can have a normal life besides traveling and hunting professional points.... - players would represent their team but play on tour as individuals. - points players pick up would count for.both Team and their individual ranking. - Group of coaches working for each team should be paid by sponsors owning the team like it is in Football. Players would have motivation to fight to get signed into these teams. Tennis should be an individual / team sport...that would be interesting...at least for me. Top 10 players should not make so much more, there is a huge gap...nothing personal and all the top players are fantastic athletes, but Andy M gets 36 million USD clothing deal with UA?? I would rather sponsor 50 players ranked in top 400 with that money and that would get me every 7th player on the tournament wearing my brand?! I am just tired of looking at this nonsense. An average American footballer, soccer player, baseball player or basketball player ranked 1000 in the world has a great comfortable life, is respected and considered as professional athlete....and in tennis? no.1000 is not even considered professional athlete, does not even make enough money in the whole year to fully cover one tournament trip with a coach.... how many talented players have we already lost because of this system? What happened to improve this situation? Please write appropriate comments. Cheers JS
