We also welcome the volunteers who like helping amateur children, adolescent & young people in acting, and drama and play movie roles in theater? The aim of this project is for our volunteers to offer support in setting up movie theater and later help in performances. This program is directed to offer guidance and organize theater plays, with the help of volunteers, in our community schools and in other places where Common weal is running its projects. The project lends the opportunity to volunteers to organize their own theater performances with children during their stay with our project. Volunteers can work in the theater workshops for kids living in rural areas. The core objective of our project is to help kids unlocking their artistic potential. We assume that Students who make time for the arts are also more involved in community service, and less likely to drop out of school. And we’re not just talking about upper middle class kids. These facts remain, regardless of a child’s socioeconomic background. Theater also connects to the importance of reading. A play has the ability to jump a story off the page and bring it to life. This can be a revelation to regular bookworms, but also a real boon to reluctant readers. “Part of it is that what’s happening on stage is very similar, in a way, to the play acting and role playing all children do. It is worth to mention that viewing diversity and expanse, one could well understand the problems that tribal, under-privileged, or minority cultures are facing to preserving their own folk culture and spirit. Volunteers’ Fact File Project Duration: Minimum 2 weeks Project Availabilities: All year round – Dates are flexible you can choose your own start and finish date. Requirements: We don’t need any qualification for this project. Volunteers must have lots of love & enthusiasm for the project. Location: Bodhi Tree Campus , Bodhgaya India. Project Activities: Organize the program, making & design the set, teach children in acting/drama & dance, help teachers in the performance of children & Work on other things which needs to organize the program. Work for Volunteers You will be given training in the workshop that will include how to coach drama groups, how to help children and young people for their local performance. You will be involved in a few activities such as teaching, in theater, to improve focus, making the set, design them, music selection, making the masks and organize the program when it will be held in a theater. We don’t need an expert actor, director or an artist we just want from our volunteer to offer love to children, to make them good theater actors and to help the ones that are talented but they are shy or just not able to bring it out. There is a lack of theater education in the region. We expect the volunteers to offer good help and to be good teachers in the workshops. Volunteers can also work with the children in rural areas, so they can arrange to put in play a drama with them. This helps build confidence for them and makes them be more united and see the future with more hope and joy. Also, volunteers can put in play dramas with the kids from the community school that the organization works with. The children in community school are always eager to learn new things and this shows them the fun part of life, at the end of the day children fall asleep with a smile on their faces because their talents get to be discovered and enhanced while having fun. Skills Required for Program There is no specific skill requirement to join the volunteering program. The volunteers who have love and passion for the children who need their help to make performance on stage & like to learn about the culture/life in the country can join the program. Accommodation We make arrangements for room, food and transportation for the volunteers, from the first day of the volunteer’s arrival in Bodhgaya, India. You will live in a lovely house which is nearby to the world heritage property. The house is typical Indian style which is also very close to the slum like orientation of schedule caste community. The house connects you to the spiritual ambiance and creative humor of nearby audience.
