We finally got to talk with the neurologist a little after 5 PM today. The delay didnt render good news. Her fracture involves the C1 vertebrae and part of the base of the skull which the doctor described as a very bad break and not easily fixed. Without going in to all the details, there are really no good options just less invasive ones. Surgery is most likely out due to the ramifications afterward. Doing nothing but wearing a brace, controlling the pain, taking it one day at a time and leaving the future in the Lords hands seems to be the best decision for her at this point.
