We have a marriage crisis in our world. Marriages that began with hot love ends up cold or lukewarm. Many thought that the honey moon will last forever but they later realized that there are also rocks on the moon and honey was not enough. Marriage that began as an ideal turns to an ordeal and then to a raw deal and people go out looking for a new deal. Instead of people enjoying marriage, they are enduring it. Marriage has become a slimy pit, you want to come out but you can’t come out. Someone said that those who are in want to come out and those who are out want to go in. Marriage is God’s original idea. God made marriage to be the best place where we could express His unconditional love to one another. Many are suffering in marriage because they entered it unprepared and with unrealistic expectations. After the honey moon was over they realized that the angel they knew has teeth and they are getting hurt. Many have given up their once good marriage and they are looking for the slightest opportunity to get out, others have resigned to stay in loveless marriages. Others are just there to make ends meet. I am worried by the rate of our divorce in the church and in the world and I fear that divorce will become so common that we will get used to it. Despite all this, we can turn our common waters of marriage into sweet wine. We can find the lost love, we can learn to love and trust again. God who is the initiator of marriage gave us guidelines and a divine manual on how to enjoy our marriages. Failure to follow His marriage manual causes us trouble and failure!!
