We have had members inform us that they have received automated calls on their cell phones stating that his or her debit card has been blocked due to possible fraud and prompting the member to enter personal, account, and card security code information in order to remove the block. This is a scam! We do not contact members in this way and we would not ask for this type of information over the phone. If you ever are contacted by someone claiming to represent SMECU and are asked to give personal information, please hang up and call the credit union directly at 941-953-6744. Thank you!
