We must have to re-examine the Devious, Vicious and Diabolical - TopicsExpress

We must have to re-examine the Devious, Vicious and Diabolical Boko Haram. I would argue with anyone as I assert that Boko Haram is the creation of over a century old feud between the Sokoto Caliphate of the Northwest and the Kanem-Bornu enclave of the Northeast. The Sokoto Caliphate that perpetuated the evils of the Biafra-Nigeria civil war are the same creators of this current evil of Boko-Haram because they believe that they are born to rule forever in Nigeria. Could Boko Haram be a resistance within the North itself against the Hausa-Fulani oligarchy known ordinarily as the Sokoto Caliphate? Could it be that Boko Haram is a war between these two power blocs and the minorities in the North and then spilling over into religious and ethnic tensions? Could it be that the current trillions of Naira being spent on security can be better applied to social and economic services that will greatly improve the Human Development Indices in the North-East of Nigeria especailly among the Kanuri and the tribal herdmen? Can we solve the Boko Haram menaces by neutralizing if not flatly taking away the economic influence from the North-West and spreading it across the entire Northern Nigeria? I am only rethinking the current mayhem called Boko Haram. Do we not see it as a waste of time and resources President Goodluck Jonathans effort to deal with the evil of Boko Haram by creating a detente only to end up picking both his Minister of Defense and National Security Adviser from the Sardauna’s home region? Both Gen. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau and Col. Sambo Dasuki are well entrenched in the Sokoto Caliphate. Both men are highly resented by the under-players and financial supports of Boko-Haram from the Kanem-Bornu Caliphate. The war goes on and dragging all Nigerians into it. If President Jonathan think that by making such appointments, that these sons of the Sardauna would do what the other sons have not done and solidify the handshake across the Sahara, he is merely fooling himself. Gowon tried it and woefully failed and ended up conducting a genocide against the Ibos. I firmly believe that If there is no strong handshake across the Sahara, the dream of the handshake across the Niger would continue to be a pipe dream for the foreseeable future. We must not forget that the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello unified the North and oppressed the Southerners living in the North till he was killed by the Military Coup of January 15, 1966 by effectively towing the path of inclusivity of all Northerners and this was his hallmark and secret weapon to mustering an unshakable northern political power. Please, do me a favor - read our history and think. professoromeokwe.blogspot/
