We performed at the University of Minnesota in Duluth on Tuesday - TopicsExpress

We performed at the University of Minnesota in Duluth on Tuesday and for every tour stop we are doing a Solution Spotlight to raise awareness about pressing local issues and spread the good word about folks taking action around them, and ways to support positive change. We want to share the MN Solution Spotlight with our friends and followers! Here goes: In September of this year, the board of the Minnesota State High School League (which serves almost 500 MN schools) drafted a policy to allow high school transgender athletes to compete while protecting their privacy. In response, the Minnesota Child Protection League bought a full-page ad in the Star Tribune (the state’s largest newspaper), with a picture of a locker room wall, and the words, “A male wants to shower beside your 14-year-old daughter. Are YOU ok with that?” (UGH!!) On Oct. 1 2014, MSHSL held a public meeting crowded with both supporters and opponents of the proposed policy and the board also received an overwhelming 10,000 emails about the proposal, and in response the MSHSL unanimously decided to delay voting on the proposal until December 4. Now is time to rally support in favor of the proposal to help school administrators treat transgender athletes fairly and in accordance with their gender identity!!! outfront.org/home
