We rarely consider that God demands: repentance, prayer and CHARITY to turn away the harsh decree. This is all the more amazing when we consider that the Jewish conception of charity does not include donations to the Church (i.e., a synagogue or other religious institution) but only acts of kindness to ones fellow human being. At the same time, however, Charity is listed last. It follows from repentance and opening ones heart to God. Each on its own is necessary, but not sufficient.
