We recently discovered a box of new copies of this album by the Lew Gillis All-Stars. It was marketed to radio stations and advertising agencies. It showcases the arranging styles of Lew Gillis and the playing abilities of the band. It is the same song done in various musical styles and instrumental combinations. One side is vocal; the other is instrumental. The players are Don Thomas, George Cherb, Don Jacoby, Dick Wilkie, Kenny Winslett, Dick Cole, Bobby Burgess, Gerry Chamberlain, Chuck Mandernach, Wally Roberts, Bob Stanton, Marshall Head, Bill White, Harvey Anderson, Ernie Johnson, Paul Guerrero, Jack Peterson and Toby Guyn. Obviously, it will appeal to a select audience, but it is certainly a musical memento of a certain time period and a certain set of first-call musicians in the DFW music scene of the 60s and 70s. The albums are $10 apiece.
