We reported last month that two former senators were lobbying against U.S. sanctions on behalf of a Russian bank — while theyve yet to respond to our questions, they later told the Times-Picayune theyd never actually done any lobbying for the bank. A recent disclosure confirms, however, that former Sens. Trent Lott and John Breaux and their colleagues at Squire Patton Boggs not only lobbied on the Ukraine-related sanctions, but also that the firm was paid a $150,000 retainer by the Russian bank. The disclosure also states that Breaux and Lott will no longer be lobbying on behalf of the bank.
