We were airlifted from Mandera yesterday. When we arrived in Marsabit, the pilot got an emergency call to return to Mandera and pick fleeing non-Somalis worried for their lives. The Mandera Airstrip is a military barrack, you have to get clearance from the DoD to land there. It took us a further 2hrs from Mandera to Nairobi. Emotions are running high up there. There is a feeling that the Mandera Bus Attack was coordinated by resident Al Shabaab sympathisers. Some people knew, as early as two weeks ago, that the attack was going to happen. If you listen carefully, you will be told that those guys were not more than 15, so the figure of 100 being circulated by these clueless security chiefs must not be believed. If there was ever a National Intelligence Service in this country. This is their time to justify their pay. #KenyaMourning.
