We would like to take this opportunity on this, the first day of a new year, to pay tribute to truly an amazing and beautiful horse Solitario. It was with heart wrenching sadness that we put this member of our family down to rest on December 8th. We would like people to know a little bit about Lonesome as he was truly a special horse, with a special personality.... We bred him, raised him and Lindsay trained him....which was no easy feat because he was as difficult to handle as he was stunning to look at. Eventually, they made quite an inseparable team. It was very obvious how much Lonesome loved Lindsay, he became very excited whenever she came in the barn or he heard her voice, did I mention that she was the only person he would allow to ride him :) They had a very successful, although relatively short, show career together (2 seasons). He injured himself the first time, in pasture, running and sliding in the mud :( That was 5 years ago and he never became completely sound again...after having the last few summers off (retired) this Fall he developed ringbone in his front feet. We also noticed quite a change in his personality, he seem sad, depressed and quiet....so unlike him. So we, after many conversations and tears, decided to do what was best for him....we put him down and freed his wild and wonderful spirit rather than see him suffer any more ....he was 15 years old. Many horses have come and gone in our lives, all of them will be compared to Lonesome
