Weather update as of 7:40 pm. A large area of sleet covers much of Central Texas. Sleet and drizzle has been freezing to exposed objects such as car windshields, decks, and even some tree branches. Bridges and overpasses are becoming icy with most problems centered around Highway 183 and 620 in Williamson County. Elevated portions of Tollways 183A and 45 have been closed due to ice. Most surface roadways are wet. In Travis county, EMS has responded to 19 accidents during the evening rush hour. No reports of roads closed in Travis County, but as temperatures are now below freezing for most of our area, that could change. Sleet may become mixed with, or change to snow just about anywhere in Central Texas later this evening, and continue off and on overnight. Precipitation should end before sunrise on Friday, but ice could remain through morning rush hour. - Mark Murray
