Welcome to the Joe Tillinghast Page. This page has been created to update all of Joe’s friends on his health situation and what we, as Kennedy Cougars, friends, musicians, etc. can do to help one of our own in their time of need. Joe was with the band “Kolour” and after performing a couple of gigs at Rock ‘n Bowl for the reunion of this band, he went home and found that he was having trouble breathing as he climbed his stairs. It became so labored that he was rushed to the hospital and quadruple bypass was performed. During the course of this operation, it was found that Joe had cardiomyopathy and would need a new heart. This condition is hereditary and both Joe’s father and brother died at an early age with this disease. We have all fallen on hard times in our lives, but this is particularly disheartening because Joe’s insurance has been taken away since Medicaid will not provide for a household that earns more than $700 per month. His insurance was cancelled July 31st of this year. As a musician, if you’re not playing, there is no income. Disability was given to Joe after the bypass surgery in the amount of $1100 per month. This is what opted him out of Medicaid. As it stands, Joe’s prescription medications for his heart are at approximately $1000/month. A benefit is in the planning process and we are trying to pull together items to be auctioned and also find a music venue where several bands will donate their time and everyone can come out and enjoy a great event while also helping Joe. Any items for the auction will be appreciated. We, as human beings, as friends, cannot stand by and allow one of our brothers to face this alone. We need your help. A bank account will be opened in Joe’s name where donations can be sent. Please find it in your hearts to donate at least $10.00 or more, if possible, to help. If we could get $10.00 from each of us, imagine what we could accomplish. PLEASE find it in your heart to give. More information will be forthcoming as it is received. Thank you, The Joe Tillinghast Benefit Fund Committee
