Well Pete, I have got to say, you put a lot of people through the wringer. Barely a man, woman or child went unscathed. Hopes raised and dashed time and again, Pete. Fear, pain, humiliation, confusion, stress, you covered it all and more. We survived it, Pete, that trip through the wringer and as we did something beautiful happened. You thought you would squeeze the life out of us, Pete. You failed, and you failed miserably. Something beautiful happened, Pete. People who did not even know each other, people who lived hundreds of miles apart, people from all walks of life grew Pete. They reached out, first to our teachers and then to each other and then they reached out to their friends, families and communities. We even reached out to you, Pete but you chose to remain outside, in the dark while we basked and grew and learned and laughed and cried and shared in the weaving of our stories, hopes, dreams, failures and successes. It is a grand tapestry now, Pete. It has grown far to big to go through your ringer, Pete. And perhaps the most wondrous thing of all is that it has taken on a life of its own. It will continue to grow, Pete. It will grow so large that it will wrap around our teachers, our children, our parents and grandparents for generations to come. Ever been through a wringer, Pete. It will squeeze the life out of you Pete. You probably wont survive it, Pete. Not as we did. We survived because we came together, Pete. But you, Pete will be flattened by what you sought to destroy. Sorry about that, Pete but hate will never win out over love, Pete. Lies will never win out over truth. We know the truth now, Pete, we are free of your lies even while you struggle to escape your own web. Ever been through a wringer, Pete? P. S. I wrote you a poem, Pete We won the battle but not the war. We know what we are fighting for. You came knocking at our door. You shook us up right to the core! Hold on, Pete, there is more, more, more! Youve only begun to hear us ROAR! MLAs who do not cross the floor Will find themselves Through a laundry chute door!
