Well Steve Rotondo TODAY IS THE DAY A day I never thought I would - TopicsExpress

Well Steve Rotondo TODAY IS THE DAY A day I never thought I would see, however for totally different reasons than most people would think. On August 15, 1991 at Maimonides Hospital on the 3rd floor I was given the devastating news that every parent prays they never hear...YOUR SON HAS CANCER! I was absolutely heartbroken, terrified and confused! At 3 1/2 years old our conversations would often be, Mommy am I going to die. Often times I could not control my tears but would try to convincingly say NO, but not really believing that. For the next 3 1/2 years I watched you endure extreme suffering and pain with all the chemo, bone marrows, spinal taps, ports, blood transfusions, infections, vomiting, lots of time away from your brother and many weeks/month in the hospital. While they tried to give you pain medication to help, you hated the way it made you feel and refused to take it. I spent many nights wondering if you would be with me the next morning. Every day you faced each challenge like a trooper...no pain meds, no worries, just a happy go lucky little boy. During this difficult time YOU WERE THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS. You gave me the strength to tackle each day, to fight with the doctors for what I believed was right for you, to hold you during your spinal taps and bone marrows because you didnt want anyone else to do it. I sobbed each and every time, but I knew it was something you needed me to do. So today I TRULY THANK GOD for sparing your life and allowing me the opportunity to watch you get married and be the amazing dad that you are HE HAS A PLAN AND A PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE! I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL X0X0X0X0X0
