What I dont understand is this. Cant the teachers say Well go back to work without a signed contract/agreement until the appeal is ruled on by the courts, and while the BCTF continues negotiating the contract with the government Essentially, going back to work without a contract, like they have been for the last year or so (I cant remember how long theyve been without a contract). That way they havent given up anything in terms of negotiation, they still look good, teachers earn a wage, parents are happy kids are in school, and they government can choose to lock them out and be the bad guy. The only reason I see BCTF pushing so hard right now is because theyre worried theyll lose the appeal and want the government to cave so if they lose they will have a precedent in place (similarly to what the above claims the government is trying to do)
