What a beautiful story! Of Sandra Simone, a jazz singer and an african-american Woman-Farmer-of-Color, and her connection to her ancestral land. Read her full story here - zesterdaily/agriculture/among-farmers-women-deeply-rooted-culture/, as captured by Sarah Khan. Loved her.. and so connected with what she said of her land .. .. it was more of a connection to my ancestors, cause I dont think I wouldve felt that way with some land somewhere else. The history of THIS land, THEY lived here! Everything they consumed came from THIS land and its just to be in that space, feeling all this wave of people that were HERE, that connected to ME. And then to think that what they grew they ATE, that made us who I AM. Produced from THIS soil, from this place. They ate what they grew here.. and that created ME! So it just went really deep for some reason .. Wow! Also looooved her concept of entrepreneurial organic garden for the youth/ kids. What an experiential learning it must be for these kids! Thank you Sarah K Khan! for this beautiful piece of work. Stirred something within me. vimeo/102193010
