What a difference a week can makešŸ˜€!! Casey has finished his - TopicsExpress

What a difference a week can makešŸ˜€!! Casey has finished his first full week of intense therapy at CNS! He has improved so much, its unbelievable, ( but not really, considering Whos in chargešŸ˜‰) Holland and I drove down last Saturday for a weekend visit, and had such a great time! We actually checked Casey out of the residence for the day and drug him around with us doing all kinds of things, like grocery shopping for the week and to the local mall to do some dreaded back to school shopping for Holland! Channing couldnt be with us because of her work schedule and we missed her so much, but work sometimes, as we all know, can get in the way! We were encouraged to do some things that would be deemed normal to get Casey acclimated back to life as we know it, So the mall seemed like the obvious place!! LOL!! Went to a great sushi restaraunt for dinner, of course he wanted a dang pretzel burger at Wendys but we talked him into Sushi instead!! Turned out to be a better choicešŸ˜‰ Sunday we all went to the local church and had a great time of worship and thanking God for all He has done for our family! Lots of visiting and trying to keep cool and then back to Fresno for Holland and I. As always, it was difficult to leave, but to know that another full week of some great therapy is on the way for him made it easier for all of us.. Casey is regaining some much needed strength in his legs and body, he is always saying how amazing it is that you can lose so much muscle by being in a hospital bed for 8 weeks!! They have some great PT guys working with him at CNS to build him back up, with exersices like squats, core stuff, and even swimming! His cognitive thinking is improving as well. Memory is coming back, and he is not repeating himself as much either. At the residence, Casey has been given charge of taking his own medications (under supervision of course,) but these are big steps in his recovery! The staff at CNS even had him working with power tools yesterday,(something his job requires of him daily,) Thats what so awesome about this place. They develop a personal recovery plan specific to Caseys needs, and work on those extensively... Today, he tells me they will work on the computer, Microsoft excel etc. work orders and such, again things that his job requires of him to do.. I spoke with his counselor yesterday who tells me that one of the reasons he believes Casey is doing so well is because his attitude is great! He walks in with a smile everyday ready to work at getting well! So often, when people come to the program they spend the first few weeks arguing and complaining about why they DONT need to be there! Casey understands why he is there! He wants to get better and work hard so he CAN come home! Not to just come home, but to come home and get busy living his life!! The new life that God has blessed him with! I believe Casey will be a changed man, as I believe this situation has changed ALL of us, for the better! Its time to get healthy, both physically and spiritually! To really start living each day as it was meant to be lived, as a true blessing from God above! To not squander moments in life as just another day but to appreciate ALL that life has to offer, all that God has given to us! To live and love each day and each other as though it were our last! I pray that each of you reading this will find something today to be thankful for! God Bless XO Rachel Psalm 118:24
