What a joke!! Usually my I Call Bluff Posts are food product related. But this one for an online course made me laugh out loud. Heres the details... Start your own business. After successfully completing our Paleo Nutritionist Diploma Course, you will be sufficiently qualified to start and run your own private practice as a Paleo Nutritionist or a Paleo Diet and Nutritional Advisor. This course was advertised on one of those deal websites as a deal for $29!! An online course to turn you into a paleo nutritionist. In 150 hours. A bargain, considering the usual price of 270 pounds (its a UK course)... Let me break it down for you though. Youre paying to read what you can google. Youre also learning a one-sided approach. As soon as you launch your very own paleo nutritionist business youll be quick to realise that one-sided approaches do not work, and youre probably up you-know-which-creek without a paddle. Especially if your version of the paleo diet is backing people up. Youll also learn what a nutritionist is. THAT is one of their subject topics. Why would you pay $500 to do a course to become one if you had no idea what it is? Just saying... They also have a subject titled, What does a nutritionist have? This one is more of a mystery to me…..What do we have? A love of food? A desire to help people? A tape measure? A body fat pincher? A high patience threshold?…. But because much nutrition knowledge isnt apparently even that necessary, most of the hours in the course seems to be spent learning about how to set up your own business. Even how to hire staff - because with that hefty evidence-based diploma of paleo nutrition, youre going to have people knocking down your door….. Theres also details on how to deal with the paleo diet and blood groups (mmmm, they obviously didnt google hard enough - the blood type diet has been debunked years ago!). Then of course, you learn how to advertise, and then cover your butt with insurance and legal issues. Sounds pretty well rounded. If youre into wasting your money. #icallbluff
