What do our volunteers do? In Greenville, SC, volunteers like Michael go to the kill shelter to check on dogs (and cats) for us. He met Bonnie today. She is about 7 years old and has some hair loss - probably nothing serious and easily treatable with good food and proper vet care. She was so happy for some attention when he sat down with her at the bench in the shade. She also enjoyed just being out in the fresh air, out of the noise and stifling heat of the concrete kennels inside. She doesnt have any leash manners to speak of (yet) but shes clearly happy to learn. Shes moderate activity level - none of that foolish puppy energy, but not a total couch potato either. Just a nice, mature dog who doesnt really have too much to make her stand out in a shelter full of puppies. Were kind of her only hope, you know? Now its our job to find a place for Bonnie here in NJ so that she doesnt get put to sleep. Lets build on Michaels efforts and bring her home to NJ!
