What do you feel you need to bring to the movies you watch? If you - TopicsExpress

What do you feel you need to bring to the movies you watch? If you go to a movie like (for instance--these are just examples) Interstellar, should the science of the movie be explained for you? Or do you feel you need to do some homework before or after viewing of the particulars you didnt understand? Does not fully knowing the meaning affect your viewing of the film? If a movie takes on a complex historical period or event, how much do you feel you need to know before seeing the film, or do you feel the movie itself should be all the filler you need? What about a film like Grand Budapest Hotel? Director Wes Andersons inspiration for the entire project was the writings of author Stephan Zweig who wrote eloquently about a grand world that was tragically lost somewhere between the great wars. Does knowing this make you appreciate the film more? Or do movies have to stand on their own with the viewer bringing nothing to the table other than their eyes and their waiting impressions?
