What is so great about this quote? How is democratic consent actually considered consent? If we could get 51% of people to vote to reinstate slavery would that qualify as democratic consent? Would it mean that, even though 49% are opposed to it, they would still be subject to it? What if we could get 51% of people to agree its okay to take cars out of peoples driveways in the middle of the night? Is that not still theft? Can I opt out of the services that are offered by taxes, or am I legally obligated to take part in the system simply as a product of my birth? There is nothing voluntary about any of it. Just because you can get 51% of people to agree with you doesnt change that. Ask yourself, when you look at your pay-stub on Friday, do you really get so much out of government that Its worth all the money you forfeit? Do you feel represented by our government? I know I dont.
