When I was about 13, I remember discovering the musical HAIR. I played the soundtrack over and over again and held close to my favorite tracks. I sang Aquarius and Flesh Failures/Let The Sunshine In at the top of my lungs more times than I can count; I daydreamed I’d sing it on stage someday to bring life to my inner hippie. This weekend, I finally let him out of his cage for the fight for harmony and understanding. After months of hard work and four SOLD OUT performances, the summer of love has finally come to an end for the cast of HAIR. It has been an indescribably magical trip since the summer started which has been filled with wonderful memories I will take with me in my long life. I have so many people to thank and I have thanked them with an intimate whisper, kiss and hug. This experience exceeded most expectations I had ever sought for myself in this setting. Never having the opportunity to venture into musical theater except photographing for a production, it was only a dream to be in a Hair production. After making a promise to Lee Hamby and him making me keep my promise to him, I auditioned and he was fooled enough to cast me in this haggle of hippies. I grew confidence I never knew I could muster up and I owe it to the support of this amazing group of talented individuals. You know you have found such a great group of people when you have no shame in getting naked with them on stage: LIFE LESSON. I postponed graduate school for this experience and it was one of the best decisions I have made. To the cast, “Be in a production of HAIR,” “Show no shame, for once,” and Reenact the scene in My Best Friend’s Wedding with a group of friends in a crowded restaurant” can all be checked off my Bucket List!
