When I was in college I got really sick. Severe blinding headache, - TopicsExpress

When I was in college I got really sick. Severe blinding headache, neck, back and body aches, chills nausea, and a temperature of 105+ just came out of nowhere and hit me like a ton of bricks. It was awful, not to mention scary. Because of my religion my mom didnt really believe in traditional medicine, however this time was an exception. Instead of going to the local hospital my mom asked a friend to drive me home. All I remember are the cold compresses which kept me calm til I finally reached my mommy. :) Once I made it home it was off to the ER. Being a college student aka high-risk, they immediately tested me for Spinal Meningitis. It was a scary time considering all associated with meningitis i.e. loss of hearing, loss of limbs, paralysis and death being the worst of course. After several hours in the emergency room and numerous tests, it was finally ruled that I was merely suffering from severe sinusitis. Needless to say, my family and I were relieved, not to mention my school and all my peers!! Anyway, I said all this simply to say, meningitis is no joke. Anything worse than the sinus infection I suffered is serious so please do everything you can to inform, instill and protect your teens. God Bless, Sherri Etienne
