When Tradition meets Religion, in a good way! (Please Read). Growing up back in Haiti, even when we had nothing, my mother always made sure that on special Sundays, such as an Easter Sunday, we had our Sunday Best, even if it was a hand me down pair of pants and shirt. I remember my uncle and I (who are only 7 years apart, so he was more like an older brother) would have matching outfits. Soulye Zodiac (only real Haitians would know what this is lol). Dressing up in my best to go to church, and even going in a little extra for Easter and Christmas, is in me and has become a part of who I am. And tomorrow (Easter Sunday), it wont be any different for me or my family. And why should it be? If I know that going before a man or woman for an interview, I must be dressed up and clean shaven, if I know going to meet a dignitary, the same applies...why not make the same thing applicable going before the King of kings? If I know going to a wedding, I must spend bread on getting GQed up among other types of celebration, why cant it be the same for when its time for me to go and celebrate my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is not a requirement of course. Its a matter of personal choice. Simply because at the end of the day, He looks deeper than our outward appearance. It is about the heart. Nothing more and nothing less but I still see it as a sign of reverence being expressed outwardly. Even in the old days, the priests were given instructions on how to prepare themselves inwardly and outwardly (clothing) before going in to offer a sacrifice. This is more of an expressed personal reflection. Theres no set rule on dressing up for church versus rocking jeans and timbs. He will receive you based solely on your heart and disposition. No questions there. But as for me and my house, were gonna be dolled up to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior tomorrow and pics shall be posted. Lololol
