When a person struggles to feed their family and feel the opportunities for them and their families to live a good life are not likely; anger, desperation and disillusionment become their companions. Poverty is likely to become the only reality; and violence an attractive option. Gandhi said, poverty is the worst form of violence. Mandela said, Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life. While poverty persists, there is no true freedom. Our young men around the world are being recruited by leaders with limited vision. These young men are our future and we must find a way to connect with them and listen to them. As a society we must be willing to learn how we can improve and realise that ignoring those voices is ignoring those ways of improvement.
