When did you hear somebody saying thank you to you? With the advent of modern communications technology, our youth is no longer encouraged to write letters or send greeting cards. The art of letter writing is no longer in their hearts and minds. To develop among the youth the passion for letter writing, PHLPost has come up with two projects: 1) The 2013 Natrional Letter Writing Project with the theme "Salamat Po" and 2) the 43rd UPU International Letter Writing Competition with the theme "Write a Letter Describing How Music Can Touch Lives". "Salamat Po" Letter Writing Project 1) Open to all students from Preparatory to High School level, this project purposely focuses on developing among the youth the value of being grateful to someone through letter and say "Salamat Po" to anybody they want; 2) Each student may write as many "Salamat Po" letters in any language mailing them at the Post Office for only Php 7.00 to any destinations within the Philippines. Each letter corresponds to ONE (1) RAFFLE ENTRY. 3) Prizes at stake: one winner per province at P3,000 each P3,000 (in kind) for the school of the winner P30,000 cash prize for the Visayas Grand draw winner P30,000 worth of computer package for the school of the winner 4) A nationwide Letter Writing Day is set on October 9, 2013. This could be the best time for the students to write their "Salamat Po" letters in one setting. A discussion on how to properly address each letter will be given a PHLPost representative free of charge. The students will also have the chance of affixing the stamps personally to the envelope. 5) Regional draw shall be on November 8, 2013, Grand draw is on January 2014. 6) The school may opt to mail the letters to the Post Office or let the Postmasters come to pick up the lettrs and deliver the raffle tickets at the same time.
