When it comes to weight loss, people believe in the wrong kind of miracles. They think that some pill or potion will melt the pounds away, or it’s an ab-toning device or a “fat-incinerating” workout that has mega “after burn” to burn calories while you sleep. There are “foods that burn fat” and miraculous macronutrient ratios that violate the laws of physics. And none of it works as advertised. These are miracles not worth believing. I want to tell you about the ordinary miracle about weight loss, the one that actually does work. Imagine this scenario: Someone who hates to exercise, they have a terrible diet, their schedule is harried and they have pain and pile of other legitimate excuses not to follow the arduous path of lifestyle change. But they do it anyway. They find the time. They dig deep to develop the motivation to start exercising. Over time, what was at first a major struggle becomes a habit, even a passion. They learn to love exercise and how to fuel it with healthier eating, and they lose weight and kept it off. They changed. A lot. Their innate personality went through a transformation where exercise and healthy eating came to define them as a person. This is what I call the ordinary miracle. This is the miracle you need to believe in, because it actually happens. It happens every day, where people slowly but surely change their lives for the better, with diet and exercise being the path. It happened to me. I’ve seen it happen to many. It can happen to you, if you just believe.
