When the world cup started,we are considered to struggle with the likes of Spain, former world champion and Chile in our group.But,like every Netherlands fan I would have been happy if we are awarded with 3rd place at the beginning of the campaign, little did we know we could have easily won it. We were almost favourites to be knocked when Spain had scored through a Xabi Alonso penalty, but even we would not have to foreseen what was your follow. A supermanisque RVP header was just the start of a simply staggering performance which finished off by Robben,sprinting past both Pique and Ramos,as if they were amateur defenders and then slotting it past a helpless Iker Casillas.However that was just the start of an an amazing wc campaign. Netherlands defence was the major weaklink running into the wc,but didnt the youngsters step up their game.The young guns in Bruno Martins Indi,Stefan De Vrij,Daryl Janmaat and Daley Blind was simply brilliant.Inexperience they said, but such potential they never said. At last but not least,Ron Vlaar, an experienced CB proved his class through his excellent defending,a calm head at times, and a very aggressive one at times too.He kept the likes of Toress,Sanchez,Vidal,Messi at bay. He was close to perfection in this world cup....for me he has to be the best defender in this wc. Coming now to the midfield,De Jong was as usual impressive in his CDM role.I must admit that the likes of De Guzman,Wijnaldum and Jordin Clause passes the ball well,and defended when needed.They all have a great future lying in their hands... When this Wc started people said that the Netherlands were just a 3man team.Maybe they were right.But these 3 in RVP,Sneijder and Robben made defenders look stupid.And,could win the game on its own.The experienced heads turned on their game when their needed them the most. Sneijer was the pick of the bunch, as he was the catalyst of all Dutch attack,his ability to come deep andlinking defence to attack is second to none.Not only did he orchaestre all the attacking passes,he also scored a rocked against Mexico in the 88th minute when they were a goal down.His best game was against the Costaricans where he hit the woodwork several times, and was damn unlucky to not have added to his world cup tally of 6goals. Depay,a young star played fantastically finishing the wc with 2goals and an assist,at just the age of 21,had an instrumental wc. Now, to the captain himself, Rvp was an example of a captain leading from the front.Superman they did, well said, the goal against Spain was something out of the ordinary goal of the wc for sure.I cant quite believe someone would even try it, let alone finish it off. That was just the start.He then scored again against Spain and adding another against the Soceroos.He did finish off yesterday with a fantastic pen to finish with 4goals,and a very even ful campaign. Now to the man, the one and the only, theres just one Arjen Robben. He has tormented by the public due to his misses in wc2010 final, but didnt he prove the doubters wrong.His 1st a fantastic control and finish against the Spanish defence was just the start.... and then came a record breaking moment, it was the 81st minute, and Netherlands were home and dry....but then Sneijder placed a through pass, when others would not even have bothered trying Robben accelerated with immense speed and beating both Pique and Ramos when he was odds on favourites in lose.Then he made Casillas looking like a crawling baby to score an absolute ripper,thus creating a new world record of a run of 37kmph....and is now rightfully known as the Fastest player on Earth....He continued his goal scoring ways by adding another goal by running from the center line and waving past two on his way to another Robbenisque goals. He then created one for Depay against the Chileans. Then,he tormented the entire Mexican defence before earning a penalty in the dying second to clinch another win. He was on his merry ways against Brazil,as he was fouled as early as the 3rd minute as he was one on one with the keeper, thus earning another penalty,which RVP slotted it home.He then finished off by creating another for Wijnaldum.....Arjen Robben was always on the cameras either scoring, creating, assisting or being fouled, a latest FIFA stats states that he he been on the receiving ends of the most fouls....Arjen Robben rightfully deserves the Golden ball, undoubtedly the best player of the wc. LVG was simply unique in his tactical decision, and it more often than not proved devedence. It said that we couldnt win it this time, but we deserved to win it,but dreaded penalty was too hurt us again....We will be back with a bang for the next wc.Fifa World Cup 2018,you are only ours... #netherlandsforever #worldcupchamps2018 #robbenishrobben #forgoldenball Now
