When these cabanas were built for the directors of the newly - TopicsExpress

When these cabanas were built for the directors of the newly established Chappaquiddick Beach Club in the early 1960s, some folks on both sides of the harbor frowned upon the pyramid roofs with the candy-striped paint jobs. (Before this, the beach club had actually been the public bathing beach of the town, and the bathhouses had all lined up in regiments of undifferentiated gray). But now these rooftops have become a part of the seascape on the harbor side of Chappy Point. And when the sun shines on them, and the weather warms just a bit, they are heralds for the summer to come. Lovely work by artist Christie Velesig, and thanks to The Christina Gallery on North Water Street for posting it.
