When we were looking for our first BRT our big question was - Will - TopicsExpress

When we were looking for our first BRT our big question was - Will they get along with our cows? We dont use dogs for herding but I wanted the dog to be able to help me around the place - including carting which could include pulling a calf to the house for a warm up, taking a bale of straw to a new mom, whatever. Akiva was good with the cows, she did help me out around here before we lost her to her autoimmune issues. She also never let a predator near the herd. They were HER cows. Titus Jiminy though is something else, he is part of the herd. He LOVES cows. Here he is with our youngsters (just weaned a couple weeks ago). He is teaching them what the bushes are good for. Weve had a lot of breeds over the years but the two BRTs we have had are special, fantastic farm dogs. They are almost like a livestock protection breed, except they are more dedicated to their person than their herd. Note - At the end you will hear me tell Titus to be careful he doesnt get kicked. There was no worry of that as #2 would never kick Titus, they are buddies but I am trying to always remind Titus not to approach from the back. Hes pretty smart and knows them apart but I fuss over him.lol
